Ex gratia paid to the family of an employee who dies on duty has been revised. It will be Rs 10 lakh for someone who dies in an accident or due to acts of violence by terrorists or anti-social elements.

NEW DELHI: The Centre has notified new pension rules, giving retired employees something to look forward to. Among the many reforms, the linkage of full pension with 33 years of service has been scrapped. The maximum service length for full pension will now be 20 years.

It would be Rs 10 lakh for someone who dies in an accident or due to acts of violence by terrorists or anti-social elements.
For an employee who dies in enemy action, war, border skirmishes and action against militants, terrorists or extremists, it would be Rs 15 lakh. The same amount (Rs 15 lakh) will be paid if the employee dies at high altitude or inaccessible border posts due to natural disasters or extreme weather conditions.
